D-AIMB A380-841 LH0380 Alpenrundflug MUC-MUC
Arrival of Lufthansa's 2nd A380, D-AIMB, on runway 26L after a 1.5h sightseeing flight over the Alps. The aircraft had arrived in MUC at 0638h in the morning to be christened after the name of this city - "München".
The water canon salute was done just as the aircraft was taxiing into Apron 2. Strong winds had prevented the fire trucks from forming a perfect water arch!

This aircraft had earlier diverted here on 16Apr as SQ025/15Apr JFK-FRA-SIN. Just as the aircraft parked, control centre informed us of the decision to quickly turn around the aircraft and operate it to FCO. Unfortunately, the airspace closed earlier than expected at 1735z. Even though doors were closed by 1724z, the captain requested for the aerobridge to be reattached, saying that there was insufficient time to taxi and be airborne by 1735z. We managed to negotiate for an extension to 1755z, but pilots decided to step down at 1738z due to expiry of their FTL.
It was a week everyone will "fondly" remember...
